This is a wonderful article. Because of this piece I now realize that my mother had participated in “struggle love”. My father is Egyptian but he is not dark skinned. My mother was an Afro Cuban and was dark. My father has a new wife with white skin, blue eyes and blonde hair who actually was his mistress he was seeing while still married to my mother. He treats her far better than he ever treated my mother and he always has. Thank you for writing this.
